brother to brother

We have one of those toys where you sit and spin around. Pete had just discovered that toy this particular day. After lunch (i.e. after he had gotten a burst of energy), he got down from his high chair and started crawling in circles like he was a little tipsy!

This one reminds me of the movie "Hook" (watch it!) where the Lost Boys are eating invisible food. (Hey, his name is Peter too! What a coincidence.) You can kind of hear Pete go, "Mmmmm" after one spoonful. It was funny to me that Pete was so willing to keep taking bites. His little imagination is starting to kick in, with the help of Charlie's very active one.

Soup buds

Seriously, bath time is the most fun that is had by anyone in our household. If I could, I would keep them in the bathtub all day long. They would shrivel up to little raisins, though, but at least they would be happy all day.

I love all the "vroom"/crashing sounds that Charlie makes as he's driving the foam cars around.

I LOVE the sounds Pete makes trying to copy Charlie.

I love scrubbing out all the peanut butter from their hair and getting in between the toes.

I love sitting back and watching them just play.

I love the wet spots I have on my pants when I stand up.

I love the towel-wrapped up kid, squirming to keep warm.

I love pausing at the mirror to let them see what they look like all wrapped up. They love it, too.

I love combing the clean hair and the smell of clean pj's.

And the smell of a nice, clean, little boy, just melts my heart and takes me to my favorite, happy place.

I'm sorry for the delay in video of walking Pete. Actually, he still isn't really walking that great. Charlie did it over night. It is taking Pete more time. I've tried to get him to walk on video lots of times and it just doesn't turn out right.

But I do have some fun "brothers" videos coming soon. I didn't realize that the video setting on my camera was on the high resolution (whatever you call it) and so a 1 min video is too big to upload directly to blogger.

And it takes SOOOOO long to upload it to youtube.

Just hang tight.

First steps

Pete is venturing out, standing on his own and trying to take some steps. Just this afternoon. He is pretty excited about it. No video yet.

I just remember when Charlie started walking, it was so much fun. It was pure joy. It is such a fun time of development.

Other things happening:
I wish I could say we are enjoying our new kitty, Lady. I think Pete and Charlie love her to death. I am having a hard time getting used to the hair all over the place and the scratching on the carpet. I don't remember these things annoying me with the cats I had when I was younger.

One little thing about me. I have been blessed/cursed with a supersonic, super hero-caliber sense of smell. Now that being said, I'll tell you one thing that I KNOW I will not get used to and don't want to.

The smell of cat pee in my couch.

Sorry to be blunt. I can't even sit on my favorite cushion and type on my blog without wincing and gagging. And THEN we found a wet spot on our super comfortable chair the other day. Not 100% sure it was cat pee because the boys were playing with the water bottles around there. But it stinks. Dave comes home from Petco with "the stuff that works". A couple days later, after unzipping the cushion covers, dousing the cover and foam pads, airing it out, and covering it in Fabreeze, I can still smell it bad.

You better start showing some redeeming qualities, Lady. Or you're gonna find yourself hiking. I'm not above it.

Excuse me. I need to get up and find another smell-free seat so I watch the Oscars in peeeeeeace!

Indulge yourself

...in an extra long video of Pete. He has learned to say "no no" and shake his head when he is about to do something he knows he's not supposed to do. He wouldn't do it for the video and therefore we are saying "no no" the whole time! But I thought it was a cute video anyway.

Questions: Does cat food count as a food group for babies?
