Cottage getaway

This year for Thanksgiving, we had no plans for dinner with friends like we have had the past 3 years and Dave and I were feeling especially nontraditional. So, we threw caution to the wind and packed up Wed. afternoon and headed for the hills. About 1 1/2 hours away is an army fort that offers fun little cottages and cabins on the lake. We stayed in the "Gettysburg", a nice little cottage with a living room, a bedroom and a full kitchen. We brought movies, explored and hiked around, and pretty much vegged out for 2 days.

Our Thanksgiving dinner: some leftover ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, and a pumpkin pie Dave made, all while watching "Cars". The easiest thing I have ever done!

Pete found a whole lot of amusement with the unlimited supply of acorns on the ground. He filled his pockets to the brim!

Dave and I took turns taking a family picture with the boys by the lake.

Can't get enough of that cheeeeze face.

You're going to have everybody who reads this throwing out that Thanksgiving dinner and heading for a cottage. Seriously, why do do that whole feast thing?

I agree with your mom! I was planning to make homemade pizza for Thanksgiving, but then even that went down the drain because of sick boys! Your boys are the cutest little dudes I have ever seen!

You know, when we moved away from the family, we had to create our own traditions which in some cases was hard. Maybe this could be the beginning of "new" traditions for you guys! See you soon. Mom
