Free stuff!

Hey, I know I've told a lot of you about the Mommy Diaries blog I belong to but I'm putting in another plug. We are doing an Easter giveaway so go and leave a comment and you'll be entered in the drawing of neat prizes. The more people who comment, the more prizes they give away! There are ways to get extra entries too.

This blog started with a group of my friends from Minnesota. We have all moved away and more have joined. It has great parenting advice, recipes, craft ideas, and other fun stuff. Anyone can join and post!

An amazing friend

Last Sunday, I pulled out the outfit that Charlie wore for his blessing two years ago. I started panicking when I realized that it wasn't going to fit Pete (being that he is about 3 lbs. bigger) this Sunday for his blessing. Long story short, an amazing friend of mine offered to make one for Pete. I will withhold her name to prevent the mob that would stampede themselves into her front door in want of their own baby blessing outfit! Two days after I dropped off the fabric, this showed up at my door, surged edges and everything:

This was a bonus!!! So cute. AND she is making the jacket too!!

JoAnn, you are amazing, how many times have I said that? (oops, wasn't supposed to say your name.)

Now here is the challenge for all of you: What in the world can I do to thank this wonderful woman???

Grandpa Irving Giles

This is me, Shelly, with my Grandpa Giles. My Grandpa passed away last week. I was unable to go to Utah for the funeral service.
Memories:
-Tall, skinny. I always had to crank my neck to look at him.
-"Punky, Punky, Punky" (him calling their cat)
-When I was little, we went through an automatic carwash. The optical illusion made it seem like the car was moving through the brushes rather than the brushes passing over the car. I asked Grandpa who was making the car move and he replied, "The little man down by the gas pedal, can't you see him?? Ya, he's down there." I totally believed him.
-Feeding Dolly, their dog, and taking her for walks.
-Eating dinner, watching Wheel-of-Fortune, and Punky Brewster.
-Going on walks through their desert backyard and around the golf course in St. George, UT.
-He was always teasing me, trying to fool me into believing something totally off-the-wall.
-He was a very kind, lighthearted man.

He is survived by my Grandma Giles. I remember Grandpa always saying, or Grandma always telling me (whichever one) that Grandpa would pass away first and he wanted Grandma to be taken care of until they were able to be together again.

Our monkey's monkey

In anticipation of the new baby, for Christmas, Charlie was given a baby doll with several outfits, bottles, pacifier, etc. We practiced taking care of the baby doll so he would be able to keep busy while I took care of the new baby. I guess we can't dictate everything they do...the baby doll has been replace by this monkey. This monkey and I have a long history. It was given to me by a roommate at BYU and his name is actually Bongo. (Thanks, Anna)
Monkey gets a fresh diaper change everyday, he gets a ride in the baby swing, and he even gets nursed! (quirky)

Hooray!

Pete's one month!

We are so glad you have come to our family, Pete.

big brother, little brother

In the beginning of the photo shoot, everyone was happy.

Uh oh, what's this? Something wrong?

Watch this, baby brother, over here!

Maybe if we switch positions...

A kiss on the forehead, that ought a do it. Um, maybe not. Better hand him back to mom.

Dr. Seuss Week

In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday (Monday, March 2nd), Grandma Hadd made these Cat in the Hat hats for the boys. So fun!!

Then, at our local library, there was a Dr. Seuss Birthday party today. Dave took Charlie while Petey and I went to a baby shower. I was kind of disappointed that the pictures from the library weren't better with Charlie looking into the camera and smiling, etc. But there were so many things to do at the party, cake, stories, pencils to take home. He was in his own little world, busy taking it all in. They had a great time.

Name tag reads: "Charlie, I am."

Good argument

If there is an argument to be had, this is the one:

Dumped on!

"March...in like a lion" It could not be more true for Southern Maryland. Over a foot of snow where we live. Pretty crazy since just last week we were basking in almost 70 degree weather!
