Pinewood Derby and Cake Auction

We had a fun activity at our church. It was a fundraiser for the cub scouts. Anyone could race their cars. There were two categories: rules and no rules. Dave and his co-worker, Doug, put one of Doug's model airplane propellers on a car and it took first place!

Charlie feeding his friend, Luke, popcorn.

I made two cakes for the cake auction. These "corncobs" got the prize for going for the most money!

And this race track was the judge's favorite!

You made both those cakes??? Those are ADORABLE! I love the corn on the cob one. Have you seen those cupcake books that are full of really fun cupcake decorations and designs? This definitely belongs in one.

Season, I got both ideas from two books that I have. One of them is "Hello, Cupcake" with tons of fun cupcake ideas. I can't take credit for any of my ideas, really.

Wow, I am thoroughly impressed with your cake making abilities! That looks like a fun time! I heard from Sam about some "old guy" that he hoped was happy beating him at the derby! ;0 I didn't know it was your hubby! :)

You may say you "can't take credit" but you did make them and they are beautiful. You and I know that if I tried to make it like the picture it would not look like the picture unlike yours looks better than the picture. Your amazing---very talented! And Dave is an amazing MC-- he needs to go professional.

love ya-Colleen

Amazing. I would love the name of the other book you use. I'm running out of ideas for cakes and Fall and Winter I have lots of B-Days.

You look great and happy!
