Camping...or an attempt at it, anyway.

Soooooo, for Father's Day we got a tent. An 18X10 feet tent. Somehow these pictures don't really do the size of this tent justice. We decided to pack up more than anyone would need for camping, only because we could. Car camping is like that. The pack-n-play, the elevated queen size air mattress, the cooler, etc. This was our first attempt to take our boys camping. We haven't been as a family since before Charlie was born. But what we didn't know about camping in the east is that it is very humid and hot. Just setting up the tent and sitting around got us all very wet and sweaty.

Our tin-foil dinners and corn-on-the-cob were great!

After dinner, we need an AC break so we piled in the car and went to McDonald's for an ice cream cone. All in all, it was a great evening.
However, night time came and no one could sleep. It was so hot and muggy. For several hours we struggled to get the boys to sleep. They weren't unhappy, just awake! I had several laughing attacks because it was very comical. Finally, just before mid-night, I called it and packed the boys in the car and took them home. They were both asleep before I left the campground. We went back the next morning to pick up Dave.
Maybe we'll try again in October.

Now that is my kind of camping! From the house-sized tent, to the McDonald's ice cream cones, to the early exit home. Perfect!

We've had the same experiences getting too hot. No cool summer nights out here. The fall works much better. You said "laugh attack" and it made me giggle. You are one of those few people that I have been able to get the uncontrollable giggles with.

Thanks for considering this,
