New cooking show, starring...

"Chef Charlie"

"Apprentice Pete"

Taste testing...ummm!

Calling Grammy on the phone: "Thank you for the fun kitchen, Grammy!"

(Turn the dial on the stove to the right and you hear boiling water. Turn it to the left and you hear something frying!)

Pete is growing up (sniff, sniff)

Pete is progressing in leaps and bounds. It was maybe over a month ago when Pete was taking his first steps. I kept waiting, with camera in hand, to get a good video. He would maybe add one more step to his repertoire every week. Slow progress but he's full blown now and getting a huge buzz out of it.

Yesterday and today, he won't let me feed him anything with a spoon. Where he was perfectly amiable before, now he wants to do it ALL BY HIMSELF. And it is taking me all morning to clean up after him. I couldn't resist the face-stuffing, though. I love a kid who stuffs his face!

And here is the "Pete walking video", much overdue but well worth the wait: (excuse the different video formats. I'm experimenting with different ways to speed up my uploading.)

Popcorn??

The annual Sakura festival in D.C. was a great time this year. The weather was perfect, the blossoms in full bloom, and everyone else and their dog was there to see them too! We walked a lot, had some frozen lemonade, got a little sun, and slept the whole way home.

The magnolia tree under which we ate our lunch.

("Get your fingers out of your mouth.")

We pretend tasted all sorts of flavors of "popcorn"...blueberry, apple, lemon, cherry. How strange that these trees were growing popcorn!!

With the wagon in tow, we were the envy of young and old alike. We were the only wagon out there! Much more fun than a stroller. (Charlie dressing himself to match the wagon: total serendipity.)

My favorite picture of all.

Ready for summer

You know when you have to eat with the goggles on, it is time for summertime and the pool!!

Later that day, after going to the Dr. Seuss birthday party at our library.
He would bring the goggles down and position them just right, take a bite and then put them up, repeating this process for every bite.
